Key Tactics
Morlock without Water source? Yes indeed. This is a Nether self damage deck that uses his point of Toughness to avoid taking any self damage from early game cards, then close the match out with lots of redirected damage from Spells and Demon Marauders.
Pain as a Teacher and Amulet of Spite still trigger on negated and redirected damage. FYI: Since Amulet of Spite is a Relic, all damage it redirects counts as physical not spell, so the opponent’s Armor will trigger, not their Resist.
If you have Iron Maiden Plate, Toughness will block its self damage. If you have Iron Maiden Plate and a Demon Marauder that four end of turn damage is reduced down to one, a decent bargain for a Demon Marauder.
With a fully charged Amulet of Spite, an unstable Rift does ten damage. With Pain as a Teacher active, playing Nether blade then Hateful Strike will deal five damage then let you attack for five. Hateful Strike also benefits from Nether Source Power on yourself. As a rule, Hateful Strike is a much harder card to play, but it won’t kill you if you don’t have a charged Amulet of Spite.
Be very careful of fast Relic removal, it can be played in reaction to Unstable Rift. Death is particularly scary, as their relic removal plays from Hand (so does Uneven Trade, but that’s not a deck staple like Decaying Grasp).
