Key Tactics
Remember your ABCs: Always Be Charging. With a single Ghastly Gremlin in hand you can do six to nine damage on your first turn. This deck trades its ability to transition out of aggression for consistency in its first few turns.
Mulligan hard for your gremlins, even if you have to give up a mythic.
You cannot use one Gremlin to soak up the damage from two separate imps’ backlash damage.
Shared Punishment is almost as much of a keystone to this deck as Ghastly Gremlin. It’s often best to play one source on your first turn so you can play both a Shared Punishment and another soul on turn two. Or two Shared Punishments against a tougher soul like a Dwarf Warrior.
If your opponent has no removal, flying, or tall, don’t devote your Root Imp. If they have counters, you’ll have to guess if it will survive a turn or not.
Want to try something different? Play Afi (Source ordering: 2 x Nether, 1 x Earth, 3 x Nether, 4 x Earth or Order). Replace your Nether Blades with Giant Riding Tortoises, and swap one Night Terror and one Shared Punishment for two Unstable Rifts.
