Key Tactics

Your main strategy is to rely on your ridiculous potential for damage mitigation to become almost indestructible, while either recycling Zombie Half Giants or just swarming your opponent with zombies from your graveyard.

Esther can spread damage she personally takes to multiple souls, that means her armour and resist is the number of Bulwarks she has multiplied by the number of souls (+1 for herself). It is plausible for her to take hits from spells like Meroni’s Cataclysmic Blaze and not take any actual damage.

Keep a Bullwark and Graveyard or two in reserve if you can. Your biggest weakness is spells like Whirlpool, Equality, or Fate’s Judgement that can wipe the board and ignore your armour/resist. However if you’re up against those your best bet may be to play aggressively and prey.

You have 8 From the Grave cards. Count how many show up in your hand. If you’ve drawn a lot of cards and not many FTG souls, consider Blood Spearing yourself and see what you fish (the best time to do so is at the end of your enemy’s turn). With three Zombie Half Giants you can even win a match by opening with three self damage and getting very lucky.

You can use Esther’s ability to trigger dying breaths on demand if you have an Apprentice Necromancer or Blood Spear (and not too much resist), this is most useful with Plague Zombies.

Granite Mangonel is a secondary win condition. You normally don’t want to destroy your own souls, but keep the option in your pocket if your primary win conditions don’t work.
