Key Tactics
This is a decent deck, but a challenging one recommended for more experienced players.
As a swarm deck you can win against the appropriate decks just by overwhelming your opponent with an unlimited supply of knights or soldiers. However your formations give you extra pressure during the mid game and extra summoner health. Overwhelming Force can win on most turns where its own arrival doesn’t remove it; but be very careful about spells like Quaking Seizure. You’ll want Greater Good (provided by High Paladins) to counter that.
There are two ways to play Overwhelming Force. The first is to have a ton of souls, the second is to empty the board with Fate’s Judgement before you summon it.
Don’t be afraid to pass your first turn or even your first two and make pennies. They’ll help pay for your initial structure, and with Protection and Executions you’ve got moves you can do on your opponent’s turn. Pennies also buff your handsize, so keep them in hand until you need them.
You have a slow strategy so mulligan hard for a good opening. Execution is your best. It has good hand blocking, and can kill anything that came out before your turn while it’s focused, and anything that comes out your opponent’s second turn while it’s devoted. And it does so while you’re making pennies. But you also want a structure too.
A Barracks and Shieldbearer can come out on your second turn for a penny. On your third turn they can come out for two Pennies leaving you three focused sources for a strong follow up or a fast spell on your opponent’s turn. Alternatively you can bring out a High Paladin General on your second turn for a penny and have lots of focused sources to support her. Adapt your opening to your cards and your opponent.
Order has three token spawners each with their different strengths. City Watch Precincts let you flood out your formations by bringing back the watchmen. Barracks is the cheapest, that one source can make a big difference. And Knight Guildhall creates elite troops who are worth more outside a formation than within in many situations. Experiment and choose the balance that is right for you.
This deck is very card heavy, which means it can’t fit in any Orbs of Unmaking, keep some in your sideboard. Along with at least one Penitence in case your opponent is too cautious for Executions to finish their souls (though just delaying the game can be enough for Executions to get their value). Dallon is the other legendary who fits this deck so give him a spot.
